After the removal of a single lung, the remaining lung is capable of compensatory growth in an Angiocrine factor dependent manner. Endothelial cells are capable of activating EGF to promote tissue regeneration. Notably, this feat is specific to lung endothelial cells, and not liver endothelial cells highlighting the tissue specificity of Angiocrine Factors.
